About Our Trips
Each of our river adventures begins at one of 15 different sites in West Virginia. Once you plan your excursion with one of our expert staff, you will be given a detailed map that highlights each exciting step of your fantastic adventure. Besides an awesome raft trip, you will enjoy the scenic beauty of West Virginia's forests, canyons, and wildlife. At the conclusion of your trip, your vehicle will be waiting for you or you will be transported back to the point of origin aboard a Star River shuttle or motor coach
Quality

Our rafting equipment (boats, life vests, wet suits, and splash jackets) is top of the line and state of the art. If you choose an adventure that includes camping, we will supply clean, high-quality sleeping bags, pads, and tents. After you select your supplies, we will have the campsite set up and waiting for you. If you want to include hiking or biking as part of your adventure, we contract these services from our partners in each area who provide quality equipment and supplies, as well as qualified guides when needed. Any activity you request is included in the price of your Star River adventure.

Safety

Your safety is our number one concern here at Star River Resort. The equipment you use is inspected and certified prior to all excursions, and we replace our equipment on a regular schedule. All of our guides are highly skilled, licensed oarsmen. They receive additional training here at Star River and must pass our own competency exam prior to employment. In addition, our guides have studied the rivers they raft and are highly skilled at navigation. Star River has not had a serious boating accident in its 30-year history.

Dress for Your Adventure

Star River Resort is open year round, but our river excursions are seasonal. Trips are scheduled during March through October based on weather conditions and water currents and depth. During the months of Novemeber through February, we offer a number of workshops related to sports activities and safety. Of course, you can book your adventure year round.

During the spring and fall seasons, temperatures can fluctuate quite a bit and water temperatures are generally cool. Rain is sporadic. We supply wet suits, paddling pants, and jackets. We encourage you to add wool clothing such as sweaters, pants, hats, and socks for your comfort. Wool fabric insulates even when wet. Fleece and polypropylene synthetic material also provide insulating benefits
During the summer season, you should wear a swimsuit, a t-shirt, tennis shoes, and a hat. No matter what the season, you should bring one or two large towels and a change of clothes. Shower facilities are available at the termination points of many of our trips.
